This Year's THEME:
Stories may be from any genre, any type, any any any any. As said before, as long as it hits the judges right in their AMYGDALA it is working. All submissions must fit within a certain specified theme. Part of the contest is applying your creativity to tell a story within that theme, in a way that only YOU can.
This year's theme is:
Bad Coping Skills
What do your characters do in reaction to stress, loss, disappointment, or the other foibles of life? Do they respond in unhealthy ways to tragedy, or is their entire life paradigm a bit...lacking? Does waiting in line at Starbucks push them over the edge, or are they evenly keeled until that band of space-pirates tortures their uncle? Do they drink too much, silently judge, or start getting stabby? The dysfunctional sky and your own ghastly imagination is the limit. REMEMBER the key here is to be clever and inspire an emotional response, not to try to out-shock us with your best Tarantino impression.
